The
Headless Horseman- or perhaps simply 'a'
headless horseman, he is attached to the House
of Rage, and rides on the business of his Lady,
the goddess h'Kani.
It is said that this vicious
apparition is all that remains of the first of
the black Veksun- a prince and a renowned warrior
before he became a black monk. It seems that his
mission is sometimes to protect and at other times
to destroy the young women who, like Anna
Bloom, find themselves serving the House
of Rage. He is an immortal, but more often than
not he appears to be a slave without any will or
desires of his own.
He
has been known to appear with his head
attached, often in the guise of a messenger or
a mercenary and riding an armored black horse, instead
of the flaming-maned black horse with the exposed
skull. In that incarnation his actions are more like
those of a man than a mere tool. He is seldom recognized
since the chief characterization of a headless horseman
is, of course, his lack of a head.

The
Skinned Man -
he's a ghul, a vampire-like creature that
eats corpses and yet, he is an anomoly for his species
- since they tend to be brainless wraiths and Skin
retains much of the intellect he had as a man. He
also can shift his features into a more human face,
something that is not typical of the average undead
individual. And, well, the whole 'skinned' thing
is a bit of an open question. |

Nancy
- is
a part blood Neh’Nameist (shadow
demon). The pure blood Neh'Nami are shape
shifters, nightmare creatures with mass but without
definite forms, able to mimic shapes but not pigment.
The Neh'Nami prey on sentient beings, feeding
as much on fear as on flesh. The physical forms
they take are often simply reflections of whatever
an observer attributes to them. They are often
depicted as having human-like torsos and lower
bodies that resemble tentacles or smoke. Being
creatures of shadow, Neh'Nami are vulnerable
to sunlight and fire.
In
the City one is more likely to run across half breeds
like Nancy, creatures
often as unwelcome in the shadow realms as they are
in the world of men. Half breeds can often pass as
humans as they tend to resemble their human (or human-like)
parents in coloration and form. They are also are
less vulnerable to light while keeping some of the
basic shadow walking, shape shifting abilities of
their pure blood Neh'Nami ancestors. Besides
Nancy, other part blood Neh'Nami scattered
about include Lucas
(Luke) Ross (a.k.a. The Shadow/ Half Shadow Man)
and an enigmatic young woman named Marcie
Crane.

The
White Cat - I'm
not sure that she is a monster, but I know she is
not a man. She is not human, at least. She arrived
in this world from another one as a young girl and
has never found her way back to her home. Before
the Revolution threw the countryside into chaos,
she was a well-regarded superhero and in the time
since then, she has quietly resumed that life although
now she avoids the sort of attention she once basked
in. These days she is regarded as sort of an urban
legend. Many people believe that she died during
or soon after the Revolution or else they think of
her as the old woman she ought to be - for all the
time she has spent in this world (nearly fifty years
by the time armageddon
girl gets underway) she has only aged a
decade or so. |
